How does our culture view the change of menopause? How is our cultures views of these changes different than other cultures? What kind of messages are being sent to women about these changes?

I think our culture has had a huge impact on how women view thier own menopause and how others view women in menopause.

Since our culture is obsessed with staying young and looking beautiful, I think facing menopause is hard for women because they have to face the end of their reproductive years. And, I think our society as a whole looks down on older women (and there is the whole practice of men trading in their wives for younger models!!!).

In other cultures, age is valued since it's recognized that wisdom comes with age. I wish our culture was more like that!!!
