I removed them and noticed they were hard and smelled bad. Also a little while later my tonsil started to bleed from behind (thats what it looked like) for a couple of minutes.

Tonsillitis.

Tonsillitis is characterized by red, swollen tonsils. You may also notice white patches on the tonsils.
