I'm thinking about donating my hair to Locks of Love (a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer) but I haven't met anybody who has done it. How much hair do they need? Can it be colored? How was the process? Answer:You are misinformed. Locks of Love does not make wigs for children with cancer who have lost hair from chemotherapy. Locks of Love does make wigs for children with long term hair loss from the disease, alopecia. I don't know one child with cancer who has EVER gotten a wig from Locks of Love and I know many. Quote from their website: "children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure" Locks of Love: A Popular Charity Under Scrutiny http://www.associatedcontent.com/article... If you want to help children by donating your hair for a wig, the ONLY foundation that doe this is called Wigs for Kids: Wigs for Kids http://www.wigsforkids.org/ http://www.wigsforkids.org/hair-donation... Wigs for Kids Executive Club Building 21330 Center Ridge Road, Ste 26 Rocky River, Ohio 44116 Call : 440.333.4433 "Wigs for Kids is a private nonprofit organization providing hair replacement systems for eligible children 18 years of age and younger who have hair loss as a result of chemotherapy, radiation treatments, alopecia, burns, or other medical circumstances." well my wife has and a friend of mine's wife has as well. They both had hair down to their asses. My daughters softball coach (man) is growing his hair out for the same thing. I am sure they have a website, why not look them up. yea i did it. they required at least 10 inches. |
