an allergic reaction to the contacts you've been wearing for years,(not the same one's or constantly..

my friend thought she had Pink Eye ..then some doctor in Miami said she was allergic to her contacts and would have to switch to glasses....

Answer:

I had the same problem a year ago. I dealt with it for two years. I went to several optometrists as well as opthamologists. I was told by some that it was an allergic reaction to the contacts, and told by others that I had eye infections. I was out of contacts for probably six months trying to figure out the root of the problem. I was eventually diagnosed with severe allergies (the opthamologist said I'm allergic to a lot of environmental toxins) I found that after that was treated and my eyes were given time to heal that I was able to start wearing contacts again. Only certain kinds though. I alternate between focus dailies and acuvue 2 enhancers. I use the focus dailies for times when my allergies are bad, and the acuvue for everything else. To make a long story short; yes, it is possible for her to be allergic to her contacts; but, there are other options than being stuck in glasses. She needs to find either an optometrist or opthamologist that is willing to be patient with her and find a contact lens that will work with her eye. There are so many out there that there is bound to be one that she can wear. She will have to be patient at first though and give her eyes a rest from the contacts so that they can heal. Good luck, I went through the same thing; and, after finding a dedicated eye doctor I found a lens that works for me. An over the counter allergy pill will work wonders as well! The contact manufacturer can change the solution they are in anything could happen like that. I am not sure though mine started bothering me too and I have heard them for years.... I think they changed something!
