I know that people who go through chemotherepy that have cancer are worried about loosing their hair and they feel really self concious about it. I was just wondering why don't they shave their head when they first start chemo so then they dont have to worry about loosing their hair becasue it will already be made into a wig, and it will look the same. It seems like it would be better to that then get a wig from Locks Of Love becasue this way you are guarenteed to get a wig and its your hair, not a strangers!! Just wondering why people dont do this...

Answer:

I shaved my son's head this summer when he started treatment. My husband and other son and a few friends shaved theirs in support too. My son didn't really start losing his hair until months into the treatment, so it was growing back then, and then it starting falling out in patches--in fact he could just pluck it off his head in clumps when it started falling. So we shaved it again then as he had hair falling off all over the place.

It's enough trauma to have to face treatment, that the last thing you think about is hair. Women have really nice hair coverings they can choose from (online especially) but there was NOTHING for men...just baseball caps. That was kind of sad. He didn't like that hanky tied around the head look. Fortunately his treatment was short (8 weeks) and his hair had grown back fully within 3 months after that.

It's curly now whereas it was straight before! if someone get cancer, does not think about hair
