I'm asthmatic and I have a cold that's gone into my chest, and I'm running a low fever. When my colds get to this point they normally go into pneumonia within a few days. I just lost my health insurance, so I'm looking for anything to keep it from getting worse, without having to pay an arm and a leg. I used to be on Advair, but can no longer afford it. I have an albuterol inhaler and albuterol for my nebulizer, and that's it as far as prescriptions. Is there anything over the counter I can take. I tried mucinex, and saw no improvement. Help Please!

Answer:

I was going to suggest Mucinex D. I went to the dr today and I still have pneumonia from a month ago so they started me on Advair among other things.

My Advair was a a sample so free, free, free. 2 boxes too.

Call your doctor and ask if they have samples. Maybe they'll see you on a sliding scale and give you some stuff. Be honest with them.

Anyway, regular Mucinex didn't work for me but this other is much better.

Do you have any allergy medicines you can take to dry you out some? I don't know if it will help but we all take it so thought i would suggest it..
