It's fine that you are trying to determine this on your own but I'd recommend that you head to a clinic and get another opinion and request that you be recommended to a med lab or hospital lab for testing.

Also, I'm not certain if you can purchase these on your own via a pharmacy but I think so...sugar tests...they are strips of paper that test the level of sugar in the urine. A specific color on the strip indicates whether the sugar is in range or is out of range...out of range, you likely are becoming or are already gestational depending on the level of sugar indicated, in range...you should monitor to ensure it stays that way.

Feeling unwell should always be checked into particularly in pregnancy ... second opinion warranted.

Good luck I think it is a shame that your doctor didn't heed your concerns and at least try to reassure you by doing a blood glucose test for you. Can you go back to the surgery and see another doctor? or a nurse?

How about contacting your midwife?

If you have no joy there are many self help groups out there that can give you advice. Try contacting Diabetes UK....www.diabetes.org.uk

I know a reading of below 6.0 is recommended so 11.9 is pretty high.....but in relation to a glucose test am not sure how you would interpret the results.

I hope you manage to get suitable help and enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy. If your doctor or midwife was worried about you they would send you for a glucose tolerance test at your maternity unit/hospital .. stop giving yourself things to worry about , enjoy your pregnancy .. To obtain a TRUE reading of blood sugar, a patient is asked to fast for about 10hrs beforehand.....NOT recommended AT ALL during pregnancy. Ask your midwife, or NHS DIRECT on 08454647 but I suspect your doctor knows you pretty well see an endocrinoligist its too high That's a bit high. Talk to your dr. again or change drs.
