My 10 month old has a few food allergies and at his last visit his allergist thought that he might be developing some environmental ones as well. We had started taking him for walks around teh neighborhood once or twice a week. But the last time he was up the entire night after with his head stuffed, couldnt breathe well :( Was some better the next day, but that night again up most of the night. It's been a few days now and still until he's been awake an hour or so he is miserable. For anyone else with these same type allergies, does this sound like it could be or more like he's just caught a cold? When I have a cold it bothers me all day but when it's my allergies they often do seem worse at night. I just thought if it were allergies, him having not been outside for teh few days would have taken care of most of it. Answer:I have nasty hayfever come spring. I usually just take Claratin, or even better than that is a cheaper generic brand that works just the same if not better is Allerclear. At night have him take a benedryl. This will clear it up and help him sleep. Make sure his head is proped up on pillows too. I am 32 yr old. I have had allergies all of my life. I have a few food allergies and alot of environmental allergies. It does sound like your son has allergies. Some mornings I feel like I can hardly breath till about 8 or 9 am. My head, eyes and checks hurt from the pressure. Some of it might be sinus but I have been to allergy doctors and they tell me its allergies. I hate taking medicine that makes me tired all of the time, so I have learned to just deal with it all. I realize with your son you can not just let him suffer it out, if possible keep taking him to the allergist, use allergy shots as a last option. It could be allergies, but he could also have picked something up. |
