Is the above eyestrain? caused by not blinking when using a computer? Something more serious? The Optician could find nothing wrong with the eye.

The eyeball is sore when the watering takes place but is not red etc. No lumps seen anywhere.

Anyone any ideas?

Answer:

Mine also do this occasionally, but it is usually early in the morning so I don't attribute it to eye strain. The pain and watering usually go away when I blot my eyelids with a tissue, and if it doesn't, then I wash my eyelids with baby shampoo(no more tears) on a cotton ball.

Ohh, isn't that pain terrible!

Not a great answer, just wanted you to know you're not alone! Staring at a monitor all day may have you expereincing eye strain. Try some of the drops OTC made by the optical companies...Refresh Eyes is one, Visine has several that clear the eyes, and take redness away. Also applying cold wash cloths to your eyes several times a day can be soothing. You could have 'lazy' or slightly plugged oil glands in your eye lids, which cause your eye to get dry. Try putting a warm compress on your eye at bedtime or first thing in the morning for 10 minutes every day or so. Get some lubricating eye drops...just plain lubricating like Refresh, nothing medicated and not those drops to get rid of eye redness. Apply the drops 3-4 times a day. If that doesn't work, go to an opthamologist, who can do more extensive tests. An optician specializes in glasses. An ophthalmologist is a doctor specializing in eyes and sight. See an ophthalmologist, and if you don't like the answer get a second opinion from another eye "specialist". Make sure you ask the doctor the questions you have posted here. Even small infections can permanently damage your eyesight. Personally I wouldn't trust my eyesight to anyone but my Dr., especially not ByeDR.com. could be a blocked tear duct
