today, i ran a 400m in a track meet. i sprinted pretty fast, for me (i'm not that fast) and at the end, i couldn't breathe at all. my eyes started watering because i couldn't get any air into my lungs. i was gasping for air. i took 2 puffs of my inhaler and that helped a little, but not very much and i drank some gatorade. after about 8 minutes, i was completely fine. do you think this is exercise induced asthma? last summer, i swam and this happened twice, but not as bad. i asked my doctor then about asthma and he thought it might be, so he gave me a prescription for an inhaler. however, a month or so ago, i started noticing that what happened to me wasn't really like asthmatic symptoms, so i'm not sure what is happening. also, i have had a lot of phlegm in my trachea since around october, on and off. i can feel the slimyness in the back of my throat all the time. Answer:Hmmm usually asthma is not being able to get air OUT of your lungs. If you having problems getting air in, its probably you are having lung infection. -_- Anyway, probably you are outta shape a little. Go back to the doctor to conduct a lung function test to know more about your breathing problems (highly recommended) Tell your doctor to explain to you the different indicators, Tidal volumes etc... For more information you can search for lung function test as well on yahoo/ wiki. You are having an allergy or allergies that triggered off the asthma. You really should go to a allergy doctor and get it taken care of so you will not start having it chronically. It can make you become disabled if you do not get it under control now before it gets started. Being it started in October, it is probably seasonal allergies caused by ragweed or something else evironmental. Same thing in the summer. Something is a trigger to cause it. It sounds to me u might have an infection, perhaps due to mold...go to ur doctor and request him to take a throat culture and a phlegm culture and see what pops up...normally antibotics would be helpful here. why dont you have your Dr. do a chest X-ray to make sure you dont have fluid in your lungs. Your doctor is a looser, because he thinks it might be asthma. A good doctor would run some tests to rule out any other problems. Get a second opinion so that you can get the correct meds. What i think is you had an allergy of some sort.I have asthma and i have troubles running out side. I RUN indoors now.I feel better.YOU may half to run where the air quality is cleaner. Silly answers so far! Listen, email me and we'll talk. there is excercise induced COPD, My guess it will take a pulamanologist to know for sure |
