My son became ill with a stomche virus in july, haveing episodes of vomiting and diareah for about a month, then at end of aug beging of september he came down with a antibiotic resistent ear infection, that lasted till october, cleared only after ped change class of antibiotics, had bronchitis in nov and tonsilitis in december jan had bronchitis again and feb march had an upperrespitory infection and then ended up with secondary infection, Dr says not to worry this is because he started his first yr of school and is being exposed for the first time to all of this, but I am worried this child has never been this sick before. He has always been pron to ear infections, but not like this..Thank you any advise will be welcome Answer:Hello, I remember when my son started school he was sick alot. As he grew up I was being told it was just allergies well finally I took him to a specialist because he was always haveing strep throat. We had his tonsils removed and that helped with the strep. He then would develop sore throats and be all stuffy the family Dr kept telling me it was just allergies and would give us this medicine and that. Finally again I took him to a specialist and he was allergy tested and we found out that he was allergic to Dust mites. Not just one type but both types. He now recieves allergy injections every week and this has helped greatly. I guess what I am truely trying to say is that "you" as a mom know when there is something not right with your child and you need to do what is best for you child even if it means switching Dr's or finding a specialist that will listen to you. That is crazy, poor thing something is very wrong. Yes school could be the cause but that is not normal and kids don't get that sick starting school. If I were you I would take him to the hospital. Oh my gosh I remember those days...my kids are no longer little but when they were we lived in a neighborhood filled with kids who ran from house to house to house ...so when one got sick they all got sick...anyhow strep throat was the biggy in our neighborehood and we even laid bets on who was the carrier...two kids got sooo sick that the strep went undetected and progressed into a neorological problem..anyhow my youngest is a teen and we don't live in that neighborhood we also do not ever have to visit the doctor anymore so one of two things happened..either we out grew it or moving helped...Teach your child to wash their hands before they put their hands anywhere near their mouth or face...this should stop allot and know this will get better as they get older but I swear we went to the pediatrician weekly in those days...goodluck and I totally understand your frustration...lots of oj..maybe zinc to boost his immune system and lots of sleep!P.s. Think preventative ...dress warmly...keep antibacterial wipes in his back pack and an extra pair of socks teach him to be preventative...you know what I mean... |
