I have been having really bad allergy problems since July and went to an allergist. He told me I was extremely allergic to chicken and egg white. I love chicken and eggs, they are two of my favorite foods. Can allergies to these foods cause sinus conditions, asthma and hay fever. I always thought allergies to foods, cause rashes, diarrhea, and other quick reactions, I never knew they could cause chronic problems such as sinus conditions. When I got my flu shot they asked me if I was allergic to eggs, I said, "no", but nothing happened. I don't understand this. Answer:Food allergies and food sensitivities can cause all sort of symptoms - from eczema or respiratory symptoms to the inability to lose weight. Here's an article about the difference between food allergies and food sensitivities - and how you can check for your own food sensitivities: http://www.achooallergy.com/pescatore-hi... My wife went to an allergist about 5 years ago. Turned out she was pretty much allergic to everything. A friend of ours started her on an antioxidant called OPC-3 and I have to tell you her allergies have pretty much gone into submission. No more inhaler or prescription meds. Absolutely. I have had allergies all my life and certain allergens cause an eczema breakout while others cause upper respiratory discomfort (stuffed sinuses, asthma, itchy throat, watery eyes, etc...). An allergic reaction is really your body overreacting to it believes to be an infection or an invasive body. As a result, it over produces histamines which leads to the reaction. When most folks are asked whether they are allergic to eggs, many times the allergist is really looking at the yolk as being the culprit. Yolk allergies are very common. |
