I'm on Xanax 3 times a day and it's so difficult to maintain my full time job do to the fact that it makes me so tired. Anyone else have trouble like this? Anyone on disability because of it?

Answer:

Xanax is not for long term use. It should be used only for a short period to get over a crisis or stressful event. There are other medications that work much better and have fewer side effects. You need to talk with your doctor and let him/her know that it is negatively affecting your quality of life and ability to function. If you're having anxiety that needs medical treatment, make an appointment with a psychologist who can prescribe a more appropriate drug for you. In the meantime, your dosage may be too high for you. Either lower the dosage or take the medication less often. Wow.. 3 times a day? I take it but only at night.. and thats because it makes me soooo relaxed and tired.. I could never function if I took it during the day. Maybe talk with you doc to see if you can change the dose and the times you take it. yep i am on disability....they told me if i had to miss atleast 1 day a week due to panic attacks i would be easier to qualify...so i finally got it My first question would be- what are you taking it for? If it is for anxiety then you really should not be taking it long-term and your doctor will likely be working on something else, while using this for a short-term stop gap. If this is for anxiety, then try seeing a therapist for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)- it is one of the best class of therapies for anxiety and especially panic.
