I went to the doctor and was prescribed Fluconazole (generic of Diflucan). You take this one tablets and it continues to work for several days. Now they say that it could clear up in 24 hrs up to 3 to 5 days. I have already seen results that it is working. Now my question, has anyone used this before? How long does it generally take to clear up a yeast infection? Can I still douche, just to clean out a little...not a pleasant feeling...lol. Answer:I have been on this medication and it is GREAT. For me, it took 24 hours to kick in. DO NOT douche though. It can irritate you down there. Actually, it is not healthy to douche at all cause it takes all your natural moisture away and leaves you very dry. USe warm water. USe normal soap. I always use a anitbacterial soap like Dial. I have never used this medicine but, I just thought I should mention that douching is the worst thing you can do. In fact many gynecologist will tell you not to do it, as will many woman issues sites. Douching strips away with time the natural moisture, etc.. and with time it invites more yeast infections. Hope this cure Yeast Infection site can help you: http://www.toptop10.com/yeast_infection.... Fluconazole is used to treat fungal infections, including yeast infections of the vagina. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection. Continue to take fluconazole until your doctor tells you that you should stop, even if you feel better. Do not stop taking fluconazole without talking to your doctor. If you stop taking fluconazole too soon, your infection may come back after a short time. For more info see site below |
