It seems that ever since I had mono over 10 yrs ago, I seem to catch every virus around. Even after the virus is over with, I get a so-called "postviral syndrome" where sometimes I feel worse. I don't think it's normal to be sick so many times, I have at least 10 or so viral infections a year, sometimes more. I wondered if anyone else had this... I wonder if it's the mono still in my body, as I know it stays in your body. Sometimes I don't get a "full blown" viral illness but feel sick, like I am going to catch a cold, which can last about a week or so. I wonder if there is any test (besides a white blood count, which has been normal) to figure out why my immune system seems to be so bad. I have been tested for all STDs (including HIV) so I know it's not that. Any advice? thank you.

Rest, relax, talk to your M.D. Autoimmune problems can make things worse. This year has been terrible, it seems like every bug has visited my home town this year, so this is a bad time to think that it is just you dealing with this. I have had numerous outbreaks of various nasty things. Try making sure you watch your hand hygiene. Regular washing hands, cleaning door knobs, telephones, keyboards, etc. and keep alcohol hand sanatizer around as well. This has made a big difference in the last 6 months for me personally. I hate to say this, but sometimes STD tests aren't accurate.I really hope it's not this, though. I don't know but not all the test are right. Well i always think that not all the doctor that check up on the blood put the 100% effort to it. So somethings there may be a mistake from the lab.
