Cold or sinus infection?
Quickly Book mark.

For about six days now I have had the worst runny/stuffy nose, pressure in different spots of my face, dizziness, sore throat (mostly in the morning and night) and have had TONS of constant plegm in my throat. I also think I have a fever and my body feels weak and tired. I am not sure if this could be a sinus infection or something that I should go to the doctor for or if its a normal cold. Any suggestions? I am debating if I should go to the walk-in clinic. If it is an infection do I need antibiotics to get rid of it?

Thanks for the help!

Answer:

Is your runny nose green? If green that usually means sinus infection.

Take an antihistamine and perhaps Tylenol to ease the pain. Most doctors will tell you that if it doesn't improve in 5-7 days then you'll need to see a doctor. Most times it's just a cold or a virus.

These articles I found refers to children, but aren't we all kids at heart?

Feel better soon, it is that time of year isn't it? :( if you feel pressure around the bridge of your nose or in that general area, i would say its possible that its a sinus infection. you should probly go to the doctor and get checked out. sinus infections are treated with medication, and it will get better really fast. good luck You should try mangosteen juice. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory with out the side effects of medications. This might be of interest.

if you would like to try mangosteen e-mail me xanmannh@gmail.com A cold and a bacterial infection generally have the same symptoms. However, if a fever does occur with a cold it is generally less than about 101.5, and a bacterial infection is associated with a fever higher than this. A cold generally lasts about 3-5 days. But, symptoms like cough and sore throat may persist. Both can occur with runny nose and sinuse pressure. Commonly, colds (viruses) pave the way for bacterial infections of the throat or sinuses. It sounds like that have been what happened here. If it started, more than about 5 days ago, they teach us that you have either been re-infected with another virus or bacteria have invaded the nasal passages. Sounds like you probably need to go to the clinic and ask the doc for his opinion. Hope you feel better. yes you need to go to the Dr.to get and antibiotics and some pain pills.the pressure in your face is bad enough . i had the same thing tried to fight it by myself but ended up at the urgent care center.now i have this annoying cough and scratchy throat cant get rid of this sinus infection..get to the Dr. Green or yellow would indicate an infection. It could be a cold if you are achy. A cold requires plenty of fluids and generally Tylenol to control the aches, as well as a proper diet. Some folks also choose a non drowsy antihistamine. If it is a cold you will get over it in 2 weeks. If it is something else you may need antibiotics, but the only person who can tell you this would be your physician.
